Who we are
Scarf (Supporting Children with Additional Needs, Relatives and Friends) is a friendly, family-led charity based in the heart of the New Forest.
Our Trustees, Committee members, and Staff are all parents or siblings of current or former Scarf members, giving us a genuine understanding of what life can be like for our families.
Because of this, everything we do is created with empathy, insight, and care — from the way we design our activities to the support we offer.
At Scarf, we know that providing support isn’t just about meeting the needs of the child or young person, it’s about strengthening the whole family.
We aim to create a welcoming, safe environment where children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and many others, can take part in activities alongside their siblings and peers. At the same time, parents and carers can meet, relax, share experiences, and feel part of a supportive community.
Through fun, inclusive activities, we help families build friendships, form meaningful connections, and ensure that every child and young person feels included, supported, and celebrated in all they do.
Why run or walk for Scarf?
Every step you take can help create moments of joy, discovery, and adventure for children and young people with additional needs across the New Forest. Your support enables us to offer our members exciting opportunities to learn a new skill by trying different sports,
explore their creativity in imaginative art workshops full of colour and expression,
or enjoy the rush of a boat ride across the sea.
By running or walking for Scarf, you’re not just raising money, you’re helping children and young people feel included, celebrated, and part of a community that truly understands them.
What Your Fundraising Could Do
£5 – Gives a child the joy and freedom of an accessible bike ride.
£10 – Treats an adult and child to a magical Christmas panto experience together.
£50 – Pays for 5 of our members to hop on the New Forest Bus and spend a fun-filled day exploring the forest.
£300 – Pays for 100 of our members to enjoy a lively swim together at Romsey Rapids.
Every donation transforms ordinary days into extraordinary memories.
