Woodland Walk
Woodland Walk — New Forest Marathon 2026
Want to experience the beauty of the New Forest without the pressure of a race? The New Forest Woodland Walk is a guided walk through New Forest National Park, open to supporters, non-runners and anyone who’d simply rather walk than run.
What route does the Woodland Walk follow?
The Woodland Walk follows the same scenic route as our 5K race — winding through ancient woodland enclosures on compact gravel tracks, with beautiful views across New Forest National Park throughout.
See the full route map and details on our 5K page →
Is the walk guided?
Yes. The Woodland Walk is led by one of our New Forest Marathon Race Crew, who guides the group all the way from start to finish.
Where does it finish?
Back at the Race Village — where you can collect your well-earned medal and t-shirt, finish line water, a banana and an e-goodie bag. just like every other New Forest Marathon finisher.
Is the New Forest Marathon good for families and supporters?
Absolutely — and the Woodland Walk is the perfect way for non-runners to be part of it. Join the guided walk in the morning, then reunite with runners in the Race Village for live music, food and celebrations once the races are done.
Can we make a full weekend of it?
Yes — many families do. A Weekend Camping Pass covers 3 nights (Friday to Sunday) for up to 4 people and 1 car, so you can turn the day into a full family weekend in the National Park.
